I’m a systems engineer specialized in software intensive systems.
My first job was an Associate Engineer in an automotive production plant. It was a unique job as my responsibilities weren’t just “code something”. My responsibilities were a mixture of
- Developing software for servers, desktop apps, websites, and firmware
- Setting up and administering linux servers, databases, configuring Cisco routers
- Running down to the production floor to install network access points, print servers, and troubleshooting
- Interfacing with production plant workers in gathering requirements and working as technical liaison working with product plants in other countries.
I look back to this first job and it was a brutal environment where we worked like dogs during the day and played like dogs in the evening. But I’m grateful for this experience as I always look back to this first job as it has not only molded me but gave insight on what it takes to build a system.
I continued my journey onto different industries such as logistics, defense, public transportation, and medical devices. Through my journey I served as software engineer, software architect, systems engineer, systems architect, and SE manager.
